On the White house website appeared the details of the meeting President of the United States Donald trump and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.
“President trump has welcomed the reforms that contributed to economic growth in Ukraine and its defense capabilities, and called on President Poroshenko to continue work to eliminate corruption and improve the business climate in the country”,-stated in the message.
Also the US leader reiterated Washington’s support for “the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine”. The presidents discussed ways of reaching a ceasefire in the East of Ukraine.
Meeting trump and Poroshenko was held on the sidelines of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly on Thursday, September 21. After the meeting Poroshenko said that the United States supported the proposal of Kiev on sending the UN peacekeeping mission in the Donbass.
On the same day the press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov called unacceptable the attempts of Kiev to call Moscow the aggressor when discussing the security of the UN mission in the Donbass. On the same day, the newspaper “Kommersant”, citing sources close to the Russian delegation reported on the introduction of Ukraine in the UN security Council its draft resolution on peacekeepers in the Donbass.
5 September draft resolution on the peacekeepers by order of the President of Russia in the UN security Council has made Moscow. It says the location of the mission on the demarcation line between the militias of the unrecognized republics and Armed forces of Ukraine.
Kiev regularly accuses Moscow of involvement in the conflict in the Donbass. Moscow rejects these accusations, pointing out the lack of evidence, and emphasizes that is not a party to the armed conflict.
