“It is important to understand that the Military-historical society is a customer of the monument, and we wish the weapons were only one — to the model of the machine that holds Mikhail Kalashnikov. Everything else — the flight of creative imagination of the sculptor and his assistants, so let them now they will correct this mistake,” — said Kononov.
The representative of RVIA expressed gratitude to the historian Yuri Pasholok that detected the error in the monument. “We pointed this out to the sculptor Salavat Shcherbakov. He is here and going to the stove to disassemble, as, indeed, he and his apprentice got it wrong”, he added.
Earlier Friday it was reported that Pasholok found on the bas-relief of the monument scheme rifle Sturmgewehr 44, designed by German designer Hugo Schmeisser in 1944. Shcherbakov said he was willing to correct the error.
The statue was unveiled in Moscow on 19 September.
