Afghan immigrant was stabbed 14-year-old sister because of her unwillingness to go to school

Police in Vienna have arrested 18-year-old native of Afghanistan, suspected of “honour killing” its own 14-year-old sister. It is reported by the Kronen Zeitung.

The young man admitted that he committed the murder in the heat of passion after family dispute arose due to the reluctance of girls to go to school. He said that “exploded” when his sister raised her voice at the parents and pushed him.

It is reported that after committing the murder of the young man independently came to confess to the police and said he was pleased with the offense, as the sister “defamed the honor of the family”. Later his lawyer said he regrets the murder and did not want to take the life of his sister, but only to scare her. He also pointed out that their family is quite “liberal”.

The representative of Management on Affairs of youth and family Peter Mandl says that she, on the contrary, wanted to get a good education and therefore intended to leave the parental home, where she was raised in a “traditional setting” and where she felt like in prison. Before her death she visited a crisis center, to obtain psychological assistance or even a request to stay in it.

An honor killing is a crime committed by family members against family member who shame on the family. In most cases the victims are women and girls.
