Walker criticized the idea of Putin about the peacekeepers in the Donbass

Special envoy of the US state Department for the settlement of the Ukrainian Kurt Volker believes that the proposal of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin on the introduction of UN peacekeepers in the Donbass will not help to resolve the situation. On Saturday, September 16, reports “Interfax”.

“The terms of the mandate, which was proposed by Russia, will only deepen the division in Ukraine: the mission will be located on the line of contact, and not throughout, is to protect the members of the OSCE monitoring mission, not residents, will have the exit on the Russian-Ukrainian border”, — he said.

Walker also added that Russia’s proposals will not contribute to restoration of the integrity of Ukraine, but rather “reinforce the separation.” He believes that the peacekeeping mission in the Donbass must ensure security in all uncontrolled Kiev territory, and to control the Ukrainian part of the border with Russia.

However, he pointed out that he was going to meet with Russian presidential aide Vladislav Surkov.

Earlier on Saturday it was reported that German Chancellor Angela Merkel was interested in the proposal of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin about the deployment of peacekeepers in the Donbass. The Chancellor noted that this was not enough to cancel anti-Russian sanctions.

On 5 September Moscow on the orders of Putin has made a resolution on peacekeepers in the UN Security Council. Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko stressed that the deployment of peacekeepers should not be consistent with the militia DND and LNR. Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that the “blue helmets” UN “nowhere and never are located without the consent of the parties.”
