A group of militants of the terrorist group “Islamic state” (IG, is prohibited in Russia) surrendered to the Syrian army in Deir ez-Zor. On Saturday, September 16, RIA Novosti reported a source in the city.

“Some of the militants have surrendered to government forces. While we are talking about a small amount,” — said the Agency interlocutor.

Under what circumstances it occurred, isn’t specified. According to the source, the incident suggests that, in Deir ez-Zor terrorists are weakened and not able long to resist.

On the eve of the Syrian troops liberated the town of al-Muria, as well as the mountain ranges of Sarda and Carrum. The militants were driven from Deir-ez-Zor on five to seven kilometers to the East of the Euphrates.

In Syria since 2011, the confrontation of President Bashar al-Assad and rebels seeking his overthrow. The conflict escalated into full-scale civil war, which strengthened the terrorist organization, including Islamic state.
