MOSCOW, 14 sen — news. The inauguration of the first female President Jacob Halima took place on Thursday in Singapore, reports Channel News Asia.
According to the channel, the ceremony was held at the presidential Palace Istana attended by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Moon, the Supreme judge of Sundaresh Menon, members of the Cabinet of Ministers, representatives of judicial bodies and other prominent public figures.
During his first presidential speech halimah Yacob said that her main goal as President is the unification of the people of Singapore.

“Today, I want to assure all Singaporeans that as your President I will serve each of you, regardless of race, language or religion,” she added.
The former speaker of Parliament of Singapore halimah Yacob was announced as the eighth President of the country on Wednesday, after the presidential electoral Commission issued qualification permission to other candidates for the post.
