NEW YORK, September 14. /TASS/. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin last summer requested permission for the use of U.S. air force aircraft to make a flight with his wife during their honeymoon. This was announced on Wednesday by the ABC.
According to him, the Minister together with his wife, Scottish actress and model Louise Linton had planned to spend their honeymoon in Europe.
To make a flight during a trip, during which the couple had intended to visit Scotland, France and Italy, they wanted to use government aircraft.
However, the Office of the inspector General of the Ministry of Finance considered the request inappropriate and rejected it.
The representative of the Ministry of Finance told ABC that this requirement was initially due to the need to provide Mochino quick and secure means of communication with Washington. “The Minister is a member of the national security Council… therefore, it is necessary to have access to safe means of communication, and our task is to consider a wide set of options for providing such facilities during his visits,” — said the representative office.
According to him, after “it became obvious” that the Minister can be contacted in other ways, the feasibility of the use of government aircraft disappeared.
