Russian President Vladimir Putin held telephone talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. During the conversation the parties discussed the process of settlement of the armed conflict in the Donbass. This is stated in the message on the Kremlin website.

“Emphasized the inadmissibility of any violations of the ceasefire regime, undermining the so-called school of the truce agreed upon in the contact group and supported by the leaders of States in Normandy format”, — said in a statement.

Putin also told Merkel that Moscow is ready to complement within the framework of resolution functions the mission of the United Nations (UN) in the Donbass. According to the initiative of the head of state, peacekeepers will have the opportunity to carry out their functions not only on the frontline but also in other parts of the region.

On 5 September, Russia sent to the UN security Council resolution on sending peacekeepers to the Donbass. According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the peacekeepers will ensure the safety of employees of the Organization for security and cooperation in Europe (OSCE). In Kiev strongly opposed the deployment of Russian troops in the peacekeeping mission in the Donbass. Kiev has repeatedly accused Moscow of providing financial and military supporting militias DND and LNR. In the Kremlin deny the charges and claim that Russia is not a party to the conflict.
