Ukraine opened a criminal case on Saakashvili

Politics and his associates could face up to five years in prison for a breakthrough of the state border.

Moscow. September 11. INTERFAX.RU — Police in Lviv region of Ukraine opened criminal proceedings on the fact of breaking the boundaries of the former Georgian President and ex-head of the Odessa regional state administration Mikhail Saakashvili and his supporters, said in a message posted Monday on the website of the National police of Ukraine.

“Today, September 11, the police of Lviv on the events near the checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Polish border “shehyni” made in the Unified register of pre-judicial investigations information on the criminal offence under article 332 (Illegal transportation of persons through the state border of Ukraine) of the Criminal code of Ukraine”, — stated in the message.

It is noted that Saakashvili and his associates could face up to five years of imprisonment.

As reported, during the incident at the checkpoint across the border “shehyni” (Lviv oblast) illegal break a group of aggressive persons across the state border of Ukraine and related to him the fight were injured, 11 police officers and five border guards.
