According to the authorities, subsequently in search and rescue operations the number of victims may exceed 80 people.

At least 200 people were injured.

Earthquake, in particular, has affected the States of Oaxaca, Chiapas and Tabasco; serious damage was caused to the city of juchitan de Zaragoza in Oaxaca.

Media reported that the President of Mexico, Enrique peña Nieto paid a visit to this city to study the situation and tweeted that in juchitan de Zaragoza, the first thing you need to restore the supply of water and food, as well as to provide medical assistance to all in need.

According to the President, Mexico was faced with the strongest registered in the country over at least the last 100 years earthquake, noted by the media.

Authorities warn of the possible appearance of a new strong aftershocks.
