The number of victims at collision of a train and truck in Yugra increased to 17
KHANTY-MANSIYSK, Sep 9 — RIA Novosti. Seventeen people were injured in the collision of a truck with a passenger train in the Nizhnevartovsk region of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous district, told RIA Novosti the official headquarters of the regional government.
The collision occurred Saturday morning at a railway crossing in the district of Nizhnevartovsk.
According to the transport police, the truck carrying sand, tangentially entered the train.
The driver of the vehicle in serious condition was taken to hospital. According to one version, he fell asleep at the wheel, however, the investigators do not exclude that the cause of the incident may be a malfunction of the braking system of the vehicle. Earlier it was informed about 16 victims.
“As of 16.30 (14.30 GMT) 17 victims, including the extremely difficult — three”, — told in the headquarters of the government, adding that the four victims — the children.
The Governor of Ugra Natalia Komarova flew to Nizhnevartovsk, where he plans to visit the injured and their relatives. It is noted that she had already discussed the incident with the mayor Vasily Tikhonov.
As explained in the Ural Department of internal Affairs on transport, the incident of the procedural decision of law enforcement authorities is still pending.
