Foreign Minister of Germany, Sigmar Gabriel, announced the desire to quickly normalize relations between Russia and Ukraine in order to subsequently withdraw from Moscow sanctions. He stated this in an interview with RT.
“We are a peaceful country, we want to help ensure that peace reigned in other parts of the world, that relations between Ukraine and Russia have become better, no matter how difficult it is today. We want the Minsk group process to promote peace, to lift sanctions against Russia”, — said Gabriel.
The head of the German foreign Ministry stressed that Russia and Europe have always been neighbors and they will remain in the future. “As Germans we know that we need Russian and Russian we need to work together to ensure that we got better from the economic point of view, (…) so we kept the conflicts,” he said.
Previously Gabrielle has approved the initiative of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin on the establishment of the UN mission in the Donbass. In his opinion, the entry of peacekeepers may contribute to the abolition of anti-Russian sanctions.
This statement provoked a negative reaction in Kiev. The Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin said that “this is harmful”, and the statement of Gabriel can be seen “as flirting with the Kremlin.”
5 Sep Russia on the instructions of Vladimir Putin has introduced in the Security Council of the United Nations resolution on the placement of the demarcation line between the Ukrainian troops and militias of Donbass UN peacekeepers. They must ensure the safety of OSCE staff in the region.
