The FSB will enhance capabilities within the state system of liquidation of consequences of computer attacks

MOSCOW, September 8 — RIA Novosti. FSB can expand their roles in the operation of the state system of detection and elimination of consequences of computer attacks: the document posted on the Federal portal of projects of normative-legal acts, proposes to impose on the Agency the responsibility for her work.

The FSB has prepared a draft which amends the presidential decree of 15 January 2013 on the establishment of the state system of detection, prevention and elimination of consequences of computer attacks on information resources of the Russian Federation. As noted in the document, in connection with the adoption in July of this year the law on the security of critical information structures of the country, the FSB proposed functions are not only the creation, but also ensure the functioning of the system.

Thus, the FSB is “to organize and conduct work on creation and ensuring functioning of the state system, to monitor the execution of these works.”

In addition, it is expected that the FSB will approve requirements to the centers, but also to organize and carry out accreditation of the centers on compliance with these requirements.

In July, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a package of government projects aimed at protection from hacker attacks critical information infrastructure (CII). It introduces a penalty for creating and distributing computer programs designed to improper impact on the infrastructure, which provides for up to 10 years in prison. The law should enter into force on 1 January 2018.
