Federal Agency on technical regulation and Metrology (Rosstandart) announced plans to change the appearance of car numbers. The draft of the new state standard plan for two months to put up for public discussion, the notification about its development is published on the Agency’s website.
As reported by the newspaper “Kommersant” in Rosstandart, the Agency expects to reduce the size of the registration plates for motorcycles to enter special rooms for sports and classic cars, as well as Japanese and American.
It is clarified that, contrary to media reports, the region code and the number of letters and numbers in Gosznak will remain unchanged.
The newspaper adds that Rosstandart is developing the project jointly with the interior Ministry, although the Ministry denied the information about change of standards of the rooms.
The final version of the document will be ready by may 2018 in October of the same year, it must be approved. Date of entry into force is not defined, but, according to “Kommersant”, it will not happen before 2019.
