Ministry of internal Affairs has suggested to toughen punishment for forgery

Moscow. September 9. INTERFAX.RU — Police proposes to increase the punishment from two to three years of imprisonment for the forgery and sale of forged documents, and up to one year of imprisonment for possession.

Prepared by the Ministry of internal Affairs of the Russian Federation the draft of amendments to the criminal and Criminal procedure codes available at the portal of projects of normative legal acts.

The changes made to article 327 of the criminal code (forgery, manufacture or sale of counterfeit documents, state awards, stamps, seals, forms). The authors of the amendments propose for a fake passport or ID in order to its use or distribution of such documents be punished with restriction of liberty for a term up to three years, or compulsory works for a term up to three years, or by deprivation of liberty for a term up to three years.

The current article 327 provides for the same penalties, but up to two years.

The interior Ministry also consider it necessary to introduce a punishment of up to one year of imprisonment in the colony, for storage for use or distribution of fraudulent documents and their use.
