The French foreign Minister is concerned about house arrest Serebrennikov
Moscow. September 8. INTERFAX.RU Paris is concerned about the house arrest of the artistic Director of “Gogol-center” Kirill Serebrennikov accused of organizing the theft of at least 68 million rubles allocated from the budget for cultural project “Platform”.
“We are concerned about the situation with the Director, who made important contributions to the development of cultural cooperation between our countries. So his house arrest, which was announced last Monday (4 September, the court dismissed the complaint on house arrest Serebrennikov — if), we are concerned about, worried about, and we talk about it publicly”, — said the foreign Minister of France Jean-Yves Le Drian.
According to him, Paris believes that “we are talking about the violation of certain freedoms of artistic creativity” and therefore speaks about it openly.
In turn, the foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov said that Russian President Vladimir Putin a few days ago, spoke on this topic.
“The fact that mister Serebrennikov has received government money in order to realize their creative ideas, already says that no no clip art here is not allowed. Have any questions on how the money was spent, and it is not my competence, the competence of those who had to watch that in accordance with the law of our country,” — said Lavrov.
