The interior Ministry denied the information about the changing standards of the Russian car plates

The interior Ministry refuted earlier media reports about the upcoming change in the format of car license plates in the country. On Wednesday, 6 September, reported RIA Novosti in the press center of the Ministry.

“Common in some mass media information about changes in standards of public license plates does not correspond to reality,” — said the Agency interlocutor. He also pointed out that any change to the standards is currently not planned and not discussed.

Wednesday afternoon, the media reported about the possible emergence of new formats of license plates that are similar to the numbers common in Europe. It was noted that new format, to be opened in 2018, will have four numbers, four letters, national flag and the inscription RUS.
