Putin reiterated Russia’s rejection of the nuclear status of the DPRK

Moscow does not recognize the nuclear status of Pyongyang. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin after talks with South Korean counterpart mun Jae-Another in the fields of the Eastern economic forum (WEF) on Wednesday, September 6, the correspondent “Tapes.ru”.

He stressed that the nuclear missile program of North Korea is a violation of the resolutions of the UN Security Council and poses a threat to security in the region. Moscow, Putin said, condemned the latest missile launches in the country.

The Russian leader emphasized that to solve the North Korean problem with sanctions is impossible, urging not to “succumb to emotions and [not] to drive North Korea into a corner.”

The day before, on September 5, Putin said about the ineffectiveness of sanctions restrictions against North Korea. “Yes, they will eat grass, but will not give up this [nuclear] program, if you do not feel safe”, — he stressed.

September 3, Pyongyang announced the successful test of a hydrogen bomb, designed to equip Intercontinental ballistic missiles. According to the Japanese military, a bomb was exploded with a TNT equivalent of 160 kilotons. On the same day, Moscow condemned the test, calling it a “defiant disregard” of the requirements of UN security Council resolutions.
