The Ministry of education has returned with mandatory thesis in graduate school
VLADIVOSTOK, 5 Sep — RIA Novosti. All graduate students will defend the dissertation, the head of the Ministry of education and science Olga Vasilyeva during the meeting with young scientists on the sidelines of the WEF-2017.
“Now accepted the position, I’m happy to say this that every graduate ends with a thesis,” said Vasiliev.
As explained by RIA Novosti press-Secretary Andrey Emelyanov, the decision was made by the office as a management. In the near future the relevant document will be posted on the portal of legal information for public comment.
Previously Vasiliev proposed to reduce the number of graduate students in universities to two-three people to the Department. In her opinion, graduate school should be a priority and to educate researchers. The Russian student’s Union has opposed this initiative.
At the end of June, the Russian Academy of Sciences has offered to return the graduate status of scientific activities by writing it in the law on science and abolishing its definition of third level education.
