Died ex-Vladivostok mayor Cherepkov

In Moscow in the Central clinical hospital on 76-m to year of life has died the former mayor of Vladivostok Viktor Cherepkov, “Vesti” with reference to his assistant Tatyana Captain. Cherepkova have had cancer.

Viktor Cherepkov was mayor of Vladivostok from 1993 to 1998. During this time he was repeatedly removed from office by the President of Russia Boris Yeltsin. In April 1994 Cherepkov was charged with receiving a bribe. March 16, 1994, he was removed from office.

After a few months the General Prosecutor’s office stopped the criminal case. A month later Yeltsin has signed the decree about removal of Cherepkova from a post of the mayor “in connection with long default of duties”. However, in the summer of 1996, the state Duma found his removal illegal. 24 Sep 1996, Boris Yeltsin issued a decree reinstated Cherepkov as mayor.

On 28 November 1998 was dismissed by Yeltsin’s decree “in connection with the expiration of powers.” From 2000 to 2007, he was elected Deputy of the state Duma of the third and fourth convocation, was a member of the safety Committee. In 2000, the election of the mayor of Vladivostok took second place.
