Two Russian soldiers were killed in Syria during the shelling of ISIS

The soldiers were escorting truck convoys came under mortar fire from insurgents.

MOSCOW, September 4. /TASS/. Two Russian contract servicemen were killed in Syria as a result of mortar shelling by the terrorists of the “Islamic state” (IG, an organization banned in Russia). This is stated in the message of the Ministry of defense received on Monday, TASS reported.

According to authorities, the military escorted truck convoys of the Russian Center for reconciliation of the warring parties.

“While travelling in the province of Deir ez-Zor car convoy came under a mortar attack by terrorists of ISIL (formerly ISIS — approx. TASS). In the result of attack one Russian serviceman was killed, another seriously injured”, — said the defense Ministry.

“The injured soldier was quickly taken to hospital, where the Russian military doctors fought for his life, but the injuries were incompatible with life,” reads a press release of the Ministry.

The soldiers represented the command to the state awards.
