The media learned about the bill on the expulsion of foreigners for unwanted behavior

The Federation Council prepares the bill according to which it will be possible the expulsion of foreign citizens from Russia for the “unwanted behavior”. On Monday, 4 September, the newspaper “Izvestia” with reference to sources in the parliamentary circles.

By “unwanted behavior” refers to detrimental national security activities. In particular, lawmakers focus on the objective of “inciting national and religious hatred and political hatred”, a potential intervention in the election process, as well as “working outside” with the youth.

It is noted that this term can also be applied to Russian citizens and legal entities — in this case it will face administrative or criminal liability.

The reporters found that this project is ready to submit to the state Duma in the beginning of 2018. It should complement adopted in 2015, the Federal law “On undesirable organizations”, which limits the activity of international or foreign non-governmental organizations that threaten the foundations of the constitutional system of Russia, its defense capability or security.

The interlocutors of “Izvestia” noted that this initiative is a common legislative practice in Western countries.
