Three cars fell into the river Baksan in the mudflow in the Elbrus region (Kabardino – Balkaria), reports TASS on Friday, September 1.
In the car were five people, two of them saved, three more looking for the rescuers, said the press service of EMERCOM in the Republic.
According to RIA Novosti, in one of the cars could be the head of rural settlement Elbrus Mussa dzhappuev, who first arrived on the scene. “He arrived at the emergency site, the car fell into the river as a result of the collapse of the road, and it took over” — said the Agency representative of the press service of the head of government of the region.
Around 02:50 in the Elbrus district of the KBR canyon Adyl-Suu descended powerful mudflow. The Federal highway Cool — Azau leading to the mountain resort “Elbrus”, washed away in several places. The zone to the landslide hit the pipeline, without gas supply remained settlements Terskol, Tegenekli, Elbrus and Upper Baksan, Neutrino, and the resort itself. To eliminate the consequences of the landslide and search and rescue operations involved a total of 245 people and 33 units of equipment, writes TASS.
Because of the incident, more than 300 tourists were trapped in the mountains of Kabardino-Balkaria, told in a press-service of Republican Department of EMERCOM of Russia.
On 14 August it was reported that the floodplain of gerhozhan-Suu in the city of Tyrnyauz of the Elbrus district of Kabardino-Balkaria is coming off a mudflow. From the zone of emergency were evacuated 300 people.
