The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed a decree on strengthening control over the entry into the country and ordered the government to run January 2018 national system of three-stage biometric verification of aliens. About it reports a press-service of administration of the Ukrainian leader.

The decree Poroshenko enacted the decision of the Council of national security and defence of Ukraine (NSDC) July 10, 2017.

Government in accordance with the decree instructed “to take measures on improvement of the legislation on the registration of residence and stay on Ukrainian territory for foreigners, including citizens of the Russian Federation”.

The President recommended to update the list of States in the list of migration risk and to enter Russia.

Within a month the government and the national security Council should “provide a set of measures to strengthen control over the entry to Ukraine, departure from Ukraine of foreigners, including citizens of the Russian Federation”.

That the Ukrainian authorities introduce pre-registration for citizens of Russia and pass biometric passports at the border, was first announced by the NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov. Then Turchynov explained that the Russians will have before entering the country to register in a special system and submitted to the Ministry of foreign Affairs of the Republic of the required data. “There will be the removal of biometric data (fingerprints) for citizens of other countries and persons without citizenship, except for countries with which Ukraine has a relevant agreement”, — he explained.

The Russian foreign Ministry in July described the introduction of biometric control for Russian citizens as the “line to break relations with Moscow.” The foreign Ministry called the move of Kiev as an attempt to shut out the “new Berlin wall”.
