The President of Armenia discussed with the Secretary General of the CSTO security issues

YEREVAN, August 28 — RIA Novosti, Gagik Baghdasaryan. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan discussed on Monday with the Secretary General of the Organization of collective security Treaty (CSTO) Yuri Khachaturov security issues in the CSTO area of responsibility, reported the press service of the Armenian leader.

“The Armenian President and CSTO Secretary General discussed issues related to strengthening peace, stability and security in the area of responsibility of organizations in General and in South Caucasus in particular”, — stated in the message.

According to the press service, Sargsyan noted that in 2017, marking the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on collective security and the 15th anniversary of the formation of the CSTO, stressing that these dates are a good opportunity to touch traversed by the path organization and identify opportunities for its further development.

Sargsyan attached importance to work on the implementation of the strategy of the CSTO up to 2025, adopted at the summit in Yerevan in 2016.

“Khachaturov told the Armenian President about the work done in the framework of the CSTO in recent years and the activities undertaken. The interlocutors exchanged views on topical issues of regional and international agenda,” — said the press service

CSTO Secretary General also discussed with the Minister of defence, Vigen Sargsyan, the preparation of the forthcoming in October in Armenia the tactical exercises on “Search” and joint exercises “Interaction-2017” with the participation of the Collective rapid response forces (CRRF), reported the press service of the Armenian military.

In June, the Armenian defense Ministry said that the exercises of the CSTO CRRF “Interaction-2017” will be held in Armenia from 9 to 13 October in the framework of the joint operative-strategic exercises “Combat brotherhood-2017”.
