The U.S. Consulate General in St. Petersburg was doused with paint

In St. Petersburg unknown poured paint over the building of the Consulate General of the United States and owned by U.S. diplomats car. About it reports “Fontanka”.

According to the newspaper, the incident occurred in the night of Tuesday, August 29. Unknown drove the Mercedes to the Consulate building on Furshtatskaya street and threw the glass paint. She got on the façade and left wing parked next to diaptomus.

Immediately after this Mercedes went in the direction of the metro station “Chernishevskaya”. “Fontanka” writes that the car belongs to an unemployed native of Tajikistan, who lives nearby. The police came to his home, but the apartment door had not been opened. Now the police are checking all the circumstances of the incident.

August 23 Washington has stopped issuing nonimmigrant visas throughout Russia. From 1 September it will resume, but only in Moscow. The US stated that it is connected with intention of the Russian authorities to reduce staff of the American diplomatic missions in the country. The staff of the American Consulate advised travelers to apply for permission to enter offices in other States.
