Ryabkov said the trend towards escalation on the Korean Peninsula
ASTANA, 29 Jul — RIA Novosti. Russia sees a trend towards escalation on the Korean Peninsula military exercises in South Korea and the United States have complicated the situation, told reporters, Deputy foreign Minister Ryabkov.
“We see a trend of escalation (the Korean Peninsula), we believe that those teachings that have been held, albeit in a somewhat “Lite version” in comparison with their original script, played a role from the point of view of provoking Pyongyang on new start. We are now very alarmed at the overall development and the echo of what is happening may to the security situation in northeast Asia,” — said the Russian diplomat.
On Tuesday at dawn, North Korea has tested another ballistic missile, presumably medium-range, which flew over Japan and fell into the Pacific ocean. The US and South Korea threatened to give a “powerful response” to Pyongyang, not excluding military action in case of further “provocations”. Japan, USA and South Korea have demanded the convening of the UN security Council.
