Israel and the United States resumed talks on moving the Embassy to Jerusalem

MOSCOW, August 28 — RIA Novosti. Israel and the United States resumed talks about the possibility of moving the us Embassy from tel Aviv to Jerusalem, according to the publication Times of Israel, citing sources.

Last Thursday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held talks with Advisor to the President of the United States Jared Kushner. As reported by the office of the Israeli Prime Minister, the talks were “constructive and substantial”.

As writes the edition, well-informed American source said that during the meeting the issue of moving the Embassy “raised by both parties.” Also, the source in the office of the Prime Minister of Israel confirmed that this issue was discussed at the meeting, Netanyahu and Kouchner.

Earlier it was reported that the unresolved status of the city and the sensitivity of this issue for relations with the Arab-Muslim world forced the US President Donald trump to act contrary to his campaign promises and to postpone for at least six months of relocation of the Embassy, which is now in tel Aviv.

Congress in 1995 passed a law on the transfer of the U.S. Embassy in Israel from tel Aviv to Jerusalem, but because of the disputed status of the city of presidents every six months sign a document postponing the execution of this decision.
