KUBINKA /Moscow region/, August 25. /TASS/. The number of new enterprises of terrorist groups in Syria “Heat Tahrir al-sham” has exceeded 25 thousand militants, said the chief of the General staff of the Armed forces of Russia Colonel-General Igor Korobov.
“Currently, joined more than 70 armed groups, including from the opposition, previously considering themselves as moderate. The total number of groups “Hayat Tahrir al-sham” exceeds 25 thousand fighters,” – said Korobov at the round table during the forum “Army-2017”.
According to him, the terrorist leaders, seeking to unite all existing in Syria of Islamist armed groups trying to create a new structure, the key role in which plays “dzhebhat an-Nusra” (banned in Russia – approx. TASS). “This group is actively fighting against the government troops as well as against moderate opposition in the provinces of Aleppo, Damascus, Idlib and Hama,” said Korobov.
