For the first time in 120 years all participants lived for a year after closing

None of the participants in the summer Olympics in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro died in the year after the closing ceremony of the Games. This was reported by the journalist, a sports statistician Hilary Evans on his Twitter page.

“To date we have no reports of the death of any of the athletes who performed at the Olympics in Rio. Only once all athletes had managed to survive 12 months after the closing ceremony of the Games — the first time since the first modern Olympics in 1896 in Athens,” wrote Evans.

Only in the summer Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro was attended by 12 500 athletes. The games were held from 5 to 21 August 2016. First place in the medal standings took the U.S. team with 121 award (46 gold). Russian athletes won 56 medals (19 gold) and took fourth place in the overall standings after the US, UK and China.
