Vorobyov took part in a meeting on the restoration of the temples of Moscow region

The Governor of Moscow region Andrei Vorobyov together with the Metropolitan of Krutitsa and Kolomna Juvenal held the III meeting of the Board of Trustees of the charity Fund of the Moscow diocese for the restoration of destroyed shrines in the territory of the region. The event was held in the Bogoroditse-Smolensky Novodevichy convent.

The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Mosoblasti, the head of administration of the region Mikhail Kuznetsov, Serpukhov Bishop Roman, the Chairman of the governing Board of the Foundation Archpriest Mikhail Yegorov, Chairman of the diocesan Department for charity and social service Archpriest Dimitry Olovyannikov, Director of the Foundation Archpriest Constantine Ostrovsky, Secretary of the Board of Trustees and governing Council member of the Fund, priest Vasiliy Losev.

“There are about 1.5 thousand of temples, however, about 250 of them are in poor condition. Our task is to restore them to make it so that the wards filled with people, children,” — are reported words Vorobyov.

It is noted that during the meeting were summed up the results of the restoration works of religious buildings over the years 2015-2017. It is a temple of the ascension in the city district ozyory, prophet Elijah in the urban district of Kolomna, Resurrection in Ruzsky municipal district and the bell tower of the Church of the Holy great Martyr Demetrius of Thessalonica in Voskresensky district.

From 2015, the Manager and the expert Council of the charity Fund reviewed 48 applications from parishes and monasteries of the Moscow diocese, taken 45 times on 23 temples, to be confirmed in the material. Now in the charity Fund there are 18 temples.

Father Michael added that one of the key objects subject to renovation currently Nikitsky monastery in the city district of Kashira. “This is a special object because is restored not just a temple but a monastery complex. The government of the Moscow region takes an active part in his recovery. We hope that in the middle of next year the monastery will appear fully updated,” said Archpriest Mikhail Yegorov.
