Putin called for the minimization of the state role in filtering information

The President of Russia Vladimir Putin believes that the creative community should take action to filter television and Internet content, and the influence of the state in this matter should be minimized. He told this at a meeting with participants of the youth forum “Tavrida”, reports TASS.

“If the (creative) community will develop a system of moral and ethical filters, it would be right below if not eliminate, then minimize, but it is better to exclude the influence of this process on the part of the state,” Putin replied to the suggestion of the forum member to enter a filter for the information content that would help to get rid of the dominance of aggression and crime in the media.

The President proposed to work together to think about such mechanisms and added that is in contact with the heads of Russian television channels, which, as acknowledged by Putin trying to change the situation for the better.

“In today’s world it (filter ― approx. “Of the tape.ru”) hard to do, there are concerns that this filtering take ideological character, and society will be deprived of the opportunity to open reliable direct information”,” — said the head of state. Putin also stressed what it sees as attempts to “filter everything”.

Educational youth forum “Tavrida” held in Crimea from July 3 until August 31. Its organizers are the Federal Agency for youth Affairs, which is subordinate to it “Repatriated” and the Moscow state Institute of culture. According to the organizers, during the forum in its work take part more than three thousand Russians at the age from 18 to 30 years. The event is divided into eight shifts, in particular for young artists, writers, musicians, history teachers and journalists.
