Of the Russian Orthodox Church opposed the construction of the house in Khabarovsk for a beautiful view of the temple

Khabarovsk diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) has opposed the construction of the residential complex “the Verge”, which, according to plan, should appear at the banks of the Amur river near the Slavy square and Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral. This is stated in the message of the diocese, published on August 22, on its information and educational portal “The East”.

The priests believe that the construction of the house “will cause irreparable damage to the socio-aesthetic appearance of the city and destroy the existing spiritual and cultural symbols of identity of the region.”

“Residential complex “edges” of a closed channel view of the Amur river from the square of Glory and of the stylobate of the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral. With the great Amur river, adjacent regions and neighbouring countries, the Khabarovsk will now be associated with a dwelling house and not to the Cathedral and the square of Glory”, — stated in the message that the Church is also compared with the “symbol of the Orthodox Outpost in the Far East”.

The construction of the LCD “Face” is going to do “Management of investment programs of a city of Khabarovsk”. Currently the project is at the stage of negotiation with the city authorities. It is planned that the complex will be a cascade of housing units with five to 17 floors.

Thus, according to the portal “Province” with reference to the chief architect of Khabarovsk Arcadia Korzun, the developer was not allowed to build “Faces” featured in the layouts. This is due to the fact that the object is adjacent to the monuments. At the same time Korzun said that the company is ready to seal the building by 20 percent, but to reduce the number of floors to five. “They will present a new sketch of the building, and we are working with the diocese and with experts from the government of the province will consider this question. I think we will come to a common opinion,” he concluded.
