China declared the highest level of danger because of Typhoon “Hato”

SHANGHAI, August 23. /TASS/. The highest red — level danger announced in China in connection with the approaching coastal areas of Guangdong and Fujian Typhoon “Hato”. According to the forecast of Central meteorological service of the country, tropical cyclone reaches the coast Wednesday afternoon.

Currently, the Typhoon is located about 200 km South-East of Zhuhai city (southern Guangdong province) and continues to move westward at a speed of approximately 25 km/h, gradually gaining strength. The wind speed in the Central part of the tropical cyclone reaches 40 m/s.

Heavy rains and powerful wind gusts are also expected in the provinces of Jiangxi, Hunan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous region and Hainan island.

It is noted that local authorities take appropriate measures in accordance with the established response mechanism to natural disasters. Located in potentially dangerous areas, fishing vessels have taken refuge in ports.
