Media: man with fake weapons arrested in the South of France, where he started the Bicycle race “Vuelta”
TASS, August 20. A man who had a fake firearm, arrested Saturday night at the railway station in Nimes in the South of France, where earlier in the day launched the first phase of a multi-day Cycling race “Vuelta”, the bulk of which is held in Spain. This was reported by the French regional newspaper Midi Libre.
No information about the identity of the detainee at the moment is not given. The search for a likely accomplice is suspended, the name of the station removed.
Anxiety at the train station in Nimes was raised on Saturday at 21:15 local time (22:15 GMT), when the police “asked the passengers hurry to leave the station.” Source of concern was the signal from an eyewitness, who noticed in the station building “one or more armed men”, as hastened to report on duty at the police station. After that, the police gave the order to evacuate people and to carry out an inspection of the building.
