The state Department’s special representative on Ukraine will meet with his Russian counterpart on August 21

Special envoy of the US state Department in Ukraine Kurt Volker on August 21 in Minsk will hold a meeting with his Russian counterpart, which will discuss relations between Moscow and Kiev. On Saturday, August 19, reports RIA Novosti, citing a press release from the American office.

In the press release does not specify the name of the Russian representative, but the Agency reminds that earlier the Russian side of the dialogue with Washington on Ukraine was conducted by the Russian presidential aide Vladislav Surkov.

Also, the Walker will visit Lithuania, and on August 23 will go to Kiev where will be the head of the Pentagon James Mattis. US officials will discuss “the next steps in diplomatic negotiations,” reads the press release.

Moscow and Washington in early July, agreed to create a communication channel for settlement of the situation in Ukraine. It was made after the talks of Russian President Vladimir Putin and his us counterpart Donald trump. Then Tillerson has appointed a special representative for Ukraine, the former Ambassador to NATO, Kurt Volker.
