MOSCOW, Aug 11 — RIA Novosti. The Minister of culture Vladimir Medinsky presented the puppet Theatre of the Republic of Karelia, which is one of the oldest in Russia, the government prize for contribution to the development of theatrical art, the press service of the Ministry on Friday.

“Puppet theatre of the Republic of Karelia awarded the prize of the government of the Russian Federation to them. Fyodor Volkov for his contribution to the development of theatrical art. The award was presented by the Minister of culture Vladimir Medinsky during his working visit to Petrozavodsk,” — said in the message.

The material explains that, traditionally, the award is presented on the stage of the Yaroslavl academic theater. Volkov, but for the Karelian puppet theatre, it was decided to make an exception and give it in his hometown.

During the presentation, Medina said that theatre is one of the leaders of the Russian puppet scene, is actively cooperating with colleagues from other Russian cities and abroad. He stressed the contribution to the success of the theatre of each of its employees: “to reach the present heights managed primarily thanks to the professional staff — people who are sincerely devotee of the beloved”.

The puppet theatre of the Republic of Karelia is one of the oldest puppet theatres in Russia, two years ago it celebrated its 80th anniversary. His repertoire includes more than 30 performances for audiences of all ages.

The award is named after Fyodor Volkov for his contribution to the development of theatrical art of Russia established by decree of the government of the Russian Federation to promote the creative workers of theatres and theatre organisations, as well as in connection with celebrating in the year 2000, the 250th anniversary of the first Russian professional theatre. Is awarded annually to no more than three awards. Each award includes a special prize, a certificate and a cash award in the amount of 100 thousand rubles.
