German media reported about the secret shipments of Iranian weapons to Russia

The German newspaper Welt am Sonntag reported the violation of Russia and Iran 2231 resolution adopted by the UN Security Council in 2015. The publication notes that this document prohibits the service of heavy offensive weapons, delivered from the Islamic Republic.

The newspaper, citing sources in Western intelligence services, writes that in June the plane from Iran has twice made the flight to the airbase Hamim in Syria, where deployed Russian viagraprice. The Board delivered the components of the arms, which then should be transported to Russia for maintenance.

Then a military cargo allegedly drove the car to the port of Tartus (there is a point of logistics Russian Navy) and placed on the Russian vessel “Sparta-3”. Later it went to the port of Novorossiysk.

The newspaper published satellite imagery from the plane, indicating that this Iranian aircraft on the airfield Hamim.

According to the text of the resolution 2231, all States must obtain the approval of the UN security Council on the supply, sale or transfer to Iran, including battle tanks, armoured combat vehicles, artillery systems of the big calibre, warplanes, missiles or missile systems. This also applies to cases of providing assistance to Iran related to the supply, sale, transfer, manufacture, maintenance or use of weapons.

Welt am Sonntag indicates that the “new smuggling route” — part of the increasingly close cooperation between Tehran and Moscow.

In early August, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin arrived in the Iranian capital to participate in the inauguration ceremony of President Hassan Rouhani. There he held talks with defense Minister Hossein Dekhana, the results of which was announced that the country confirmed the policy of developing relations in the sphere of defense. Prior to the meeting, the source TASS in the office Rogozin said: “the Parties have reached a preliminary agreement to strengthen military-technical and technological cooperation after the introduction of the two countries on the sanctions list. Therefore, the Russian delegation headed by Rogozin will study the possibility of concluding new agreements.”
