Trump thanked Putin for the reduction of the US diplomatic mission in Russia
WASHINGTON, 1 Jul — RIA Novosti. The US President Donald trump said that he is grateful to his counterpart Vladimir Putin for a reduction in the number of Embassy staff in Russia, as Washington is trying to cut costs.
Earlier, Moscow has ordered to reduce the staff of the American diplomatic missions to 455 people and has deprived the Embassy of the United States the right to use a dacha in Serebryany Bor and warehouse on Road street.
As stated by Vladimir Putin, the reduction will 755 employees of American diplomatic missions. These measures were a response to the withdrawal of the US, Russian departmenet and the adoption by Congress of the law on sanctions against Moscow.
The Russian Embassy in the United States on Wednesday said that Moscow would not have to go it without similar steps from Washington.”The exchange of “shots” is not our choice,” said a statement from the Embassy.
In the Embassy stressed that Russia “is also in favour of improving bilateral relations and exploring areas of cooperation”. “However, this must be done not based on pressure, and on the basis of each other’s interests and mutual respect”, — stated in the document.
