State Department: Lavrov and Tillerson agreed to look for areas of cooperation

U.S. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson and Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during the meeting in Manila agreed to continue to look for areas where Moscow and Washington could cooperate.

This was at a regular briefing for journalists said the head of the press service of the U.S. Department of state Heather Nauert.

“Although the trust [between the U.S. and Russia] is still at a low level, the Secretary of state after a meeting with Minister Lavrov in Manila agreed that they should continue to look for areas of agreement where our countries can work together,” she said.

As an example, Nauert led Syria.

“It’s a place where we can work together to try to build up trust”, — quotes its TASS.

Thus the representative of state Department noted that where the views of Moscow and Washington are not the same, the US “will continue to defend their principles and policies.”

Nauert also reiterated that the decision of the Russian Federation to reduce the number of employees of American diplomatic missions is regrettable.
