Communication with podtoplentsam miners in the mine “Mir” install failed

Industrial climbers checked all of the vent wells in podtoplentsam the mine “Mir” in the Yakut city Mirny, however, to establish communication with the missing miners are not found. It is noted that the side of the pit is unstable and the visibility is almost zero because of the dust.

The commander of the rapid response unit of the national centre for training rescuers and miners of the Ministry of emergency situations Nikolay Myasnikov said that “all production that is available for the passage of rescuers surveyed”. He added that people are working in very difficult conditions.

“In a flooded part of the workings are the mechanisms, boulders, pipes — all brought water. (…) Breathing apparatus is designed to operate in water, this is brine and mud weight,” — said Myasnikov. Reportedly, to date, divers have surveyed about three miles of flooded workings.

The investigative Committee of Russia after the accident at the mine opened a criminal case under article “Violation of safety rules at conducting mountain works”.

Owned by the company “ALROSA”, the mine was flooded on 4 August. The alleged reason could be technological failure storage tank water.

In the first hours after the incident were evacuated workers from 142 151. The next day we managed to rescue another miner Alisher Mirzaev. The fate of eight miners is unknown.
