INTERFAX.RU — Potential to reduce fruit and vegetable prices in the coming months, according to estimates of the Ministry of economic development has not been exhausted and is about 15%. “It can make the accumulated inflation additional contribution in the amount of about minus 0.6 percentage points in August-September 2017,” — said in the Ministry.
Deflation in August in Russia may amount to 0.3−0.5% after inflation of 0.1% in July, predicts the Ministry of economic development. Annual inflation, according to the Ministry’s forecast may decrease significantly below the target range to 3.3−3.6% in August from 3.9% in July.
“At the end of August we expect to see deflation in the consumer market at the level of 0.3−0.5%, which will slow down annual inflation to 3.3 and 3.6%”, — stated in the regular report of “Inflation,” published by the Ministry on Wednesday.
Previously Rosstat reported on Wednesday that in the first week of August was recorded deflation of 0.1% for a second consecutive week.
However, the forecast announced by the Central Bank last week regarding a possible deflation in August, was slightly more cautious “Bank of Russia expects close to zero inflation in August. Considering the volatility of the prices of fruit and vegetables in some weeks you may experience deflation”.
