Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia said that Moscow and Washington are not held hostage to bilateral relations in the UN Security Council, when it comes to important international issues. On Sunday, August 6, RIA Novosti reported.

“As I said earlier, we are working together on issues that are important for the international community. We are not hostages of our relationship — we need to work together on issues that are far more important than our bilateral relations,” — said Nebenzia.

In his opinion, adopted by the security Council on Saturday a resolution on expanding sanctions against North Korea is “strong”. Nebesa added that it is unacceptable for Russia as a nuclear and missile programmes of North Korea and a military solution to this problem.

“We need political and diplomatic dialogue, we need a strategy for North Korea”, — concluded the diplomat.

Earlier on Saturday nebesa said that Moscow urges North Korea to curtail nuclear and missile programs and return to the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons. Also Moscow urges Pyongyang to accede to the Convention on the prohibition of chemical weapons.

On the same day the UN security Council unanimously adopted a resolution toughening sanctions against the DPRK. Now North Korea is prohibited from exporting coal, iron, lead, and seafood. Accounts of the Bank for foreign trade of the DPRK frozen North Korean vessels that violated UN resolutions, denied entry to the ports of all States.
