At the meeting of the Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov and U.S. Secretary Rex Tillerson, the question was raised about the decisions of Moscow, adopted in response to the approval of the law on sanctions in Congress. The head of the Russian foreign Ministry told journalists following the talks held in the Philippine capital Manila on Sunday, August 6, RIA Novosti reported.

According to Lavrov, the head of American diplomacy was interested in the details of the decisions taken by Russia. “We have given these explanations,” — said the Minister.

The Minister said that “this was done on the basis of Vladimir Putin’s interview with channel “Russia”.” “Where all the details has been said, explained the reasons for the decisions that we made after long expectations that the US will not go on the path of confrontation”, — he explained.

As noted in the foreign Ministry, Russia “will continue” to respond to possible hostile actions of the United States. “However, we are ready to normalize dialogue if Washington will abandon the confrontational line,” — said the Minister.

The US President Donald trump on 2 August signed a law on new anti-Russian sanctions, which the us Senate adopted on 27 July. The document provides few restrictions regarding the possibility of funding for banks and oil companies, which are under restrictions.

In response to the decision of the upper house of the U.S. Congress, Moscow decided to close the us Embassy staff access to the cottage in Serebryany Bor and warehouses in the South of the city. The Russian foreign Ministry also invited Washington to September 1 to reduce the total number of personnel of the diplomatic mission in the country to 455 people, that is 755 people.
