The US air force have reached an agreement with Boeing Corporation for the purchase for the President a two passenger model of the 747-8 ordered by the Russian airline “Transaero”. About it in interview to Agency Bloomberg has told the Minister of the air forces of the United States Heather Wilson (Heather Wilson).
“We did some really good deal, I’m happy,” she said, adding that the aircraft, which will be used as “air force one” must be a special squadron in 2024. Wilson refused to name transaction cost, having referred to unwillingness of Boeing trade secrets.
Earlier it was reported that four aircraft were ordered “Transaero” in 2013, but went bankrupt in 2015, the company failed to redeem them and the Boeing 747 are mothballed in the Mojave desert in California.
In December 2016, trump criticized the utility for updating the presidential squadron. According to him, in the amount of four billion dollars “out of control”. Later, the head of Boeing Dennis Muilenburg promised that the Corporation will reduce the costs of development and delivery of a new presidential aircraft.
“Air force one” is the Callsign of the aircraft on Board which is the American President. Currently the US President flies on two specially equipped Boeing 747-200B.
