Rescuers said the lack of communication with 17 miners waterlogged Yakut mine

The fate of the 17 working diamond mine “Mir” in Yakutia, where there is a breakthrough of water, remains unknown. On Friday, August 4, TASS said the press service of EMERCOM of Russia.

“Communication is established with all the miners, with the exception of 17 people”, — said the Agency interlocutor.

Earlier it was reported that from the mine was evacuated 148 miners. At the same time, according to “Interfax”, at the moment it appeared on the surface 102, and 33 more are in the process of recovery.

As stated in the investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia (TFR) for the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), initiated investigation into the circumstances of the accident on signs of the crime provided by part 1 of article 216 of the criminal code (“Violation of safety rules at conducting mountain works”).

Earlier it was reported that at 16:30 (10:30 GMT) in the horizon 210 meters of the mine belonging to ALROSA, there was a flooding of the pumping station, ATT-2. Because of this, mine has got about 200 thousand cubic meters of groundwater. Later it was explained that the mine was up to 270 thousand cubic meters.

ALROSA is a company engaged in diamond mining. The share of this holding accounts for about a quarter of this market globally.
