Non-profit organizations (NPOs) should be entitled to send observers to polling stations during the elections, said the Chairman of the Central election Commission, Ella Pamfilova. Her words leads TASS on Thursday, August 3.

“My deep conviction that it is necessary to connect other public institutions not directly associated with political parties. It is necessary not only to revive some of the good traditions of public control, what they used to be, but we need to bring them to a qualitatively new level”, — said the CEC head at the youth forum “Territory meanings on the Klyazma”.

According to Pamfilova, this will increase the credibility of the elections of the society. However, she stressed that only expresses his personal opinion.

Currently, NGOs are not able to directly participate in monitoring the voting process, their representatives may be observers from political parties and candidates.

On 26 July, Pamfilova said that the CEC and lawmakers will make changes in the procedure of the election process to improve the transparency of the elections and the opportunities for public control. Then she said about the lack of “competent observers”.

September 10 in a single day of voting across the country will host more than 5.8 thousand elections and referendums at different levels.
