Finally, MERCOSUR has suspended the membership of Venezuela
MEXICO city, Aug 5 — RIA Novosti. The southern common market (MERCOSUR) adopted Saturday a decision on the final suspension of the membership of Venezuela in the organization.
According to the MERCOSUR statement following the meeting of foreign Ministers in Brazil, this measure is used in connection with the violation of the democratic order in Venezuela.
Previously about the possibility of a final exception, said Argentina’s President and foreign Minister of Brazil and Paraguay. In December 2016 decision of the remaining members of the organization Venezuela has been temporarily expelled from the regional bloc in connection with the failure of the norms of the organization.
Now MERCOSUR considers that the conduct of elections to the national constituent Assembly, the Venezuelan government has violated democratic procedures.
MERCOSUR — common market of South American countries uniting-Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Brazil and Venezuela (joined in 2013). As a fully fledged Association was formed in 1991 when in the Paraguayan capital Asuncion was signed the agreement on creation of the customs Union and common market. MERCOSUR brings together 250 million people and more than 75% of the total GDP of the continent.
