WASHINGTON, Aug 4 — RIA Novosti. Since the beginning of operations against the group “Islamic state”* in Syria and Iraq because of the strikes of the coalition led by the US killed at least 624 civilians.
“Based on available information, the joint staff operation (against ISIS*. — Approx. ed.) says that probably at least 624 civilians were inadvertently killed as a result of coalition strikes since the beginning of operation “Unwavering determination”, — stated in the coalition’s statement received by RIA Novosti.
Furthermore, an estimate of the number of victims was carried out in June. Now the coalition continues to study the 424 reports of the deaths of civilians.
Previously, local authorities and independent observers have repeatedly noted that such estimates are greatly underestimated. For example, the authorities of Mosul reported that only on March 17 from the mistakes of the coalition air strikes killed more than hundred civilians.
At the end of June in the airstrikes of the coalition headed by the USA in the city of al-Mayadin, and the village At-Debian killed 90 civilians, including women and children. Damascus has expressed strong protest, demanding the UN to condemn these actions.
