Information about the victims in Syria, the Russian military received in the Kremlin by the Ministry of defence. This was stated press Secretary of President Dmitry Peskov, reports on Wednesday, August 2, the correspondent of”.ru”.
“We must be guided by these data, they are the official”, — he commented on the Reuters that from January to August of the current year in the Republic killed 40 Russians — soldiers and employees of private military companies.
Peskov said that the Kremlin see no reason to cross-check the data on victims among Russians in the light of the emerging media reports.
Earlier Wednesday, Reuters reported that from the beginning of 2017 in Syria killed 17 Russian soldiers and 21 fighters of private military companies, the identity of two yet not established. In the previous 15 months, the Agency estimated that losses totaled at least 36 people.
Thus, the loss this year has already exceeded the number of deaths for the previous period of the Syrian campaign.
According to official data of the Ministry of defense, since the beginning of Russian operations in the Arab Republic (from September 2015) killed 34 people.
The conflict in Syria began in the spring of 2011. Parties to the conflict are supporters of President Assad, the formation of the armed Syrian opposition, as well as various kinds of Islamist terrorist groups.
